Durham Oldtimers Over 60 Soccer was founded to offer a vital alternative for players who found younger divisions too aggressive as they aged. Many still wanted to enjoy the beautiful game but in a more social and less competitive setting. Our members cherish the camaraderie, the joy of still being active on the field, and the supportive community that values passion for soccer over intense competition. It's about continuing to play the game we love, surrounded by friends.

Our journey: from a vision to a team

The Over 60's division began as a solution when many dedicated older players started stepping away from the game due to injuries, medical conditions, and age-related ailments. Our then-president, Ken Meneely, recognized that these players still yearned for activity and social connection. Collaborating with four team coaches, he spearheaded the creation of an over-60s seven-a-side division. The primary goals were clear: minimal contact and maximum social interaction, proving that the spirit of the game can thrive at any age.
